Threading Tool
Threading Tool for threading a Diz (two shown, Diz not included). Very thin stainless steel wire will pull through 1mm hole.
Made from Rimu timber turned on a traditional pole lathe and thin stainless steel wire.
Finished with Tung Oil, Shellac and Beeswax.
Diz 2-6mm
Diz with 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6mm drafting holes.
What is a Diz? A Diz allows wool fibres to be drafted through the sized hole to create a nest of roving. This roving nest is much easier to spin on a drop spindle.
Made from figured Silkwood and finished with Tung Oil, Shellac and Beeswax.
Distaff
Wrist Distaff – used to wrap roving on, so that the roving is kept out of the way when using a drop spindle. The leather strap and bead go on the wrist. A one inch measure at the top of the staff allows for wraps per inch to be calculated for yarn produced.
Staff made from Silver Beech. Bead made from Silkwood. Leather strap and stainless steel eye screw. Finished with Tung Oil, Shellac and Beeswax.
Diz

Milking Stool
Rustic, Ebonized, Red Beech Milking Stool (only one left). These are very solid stools with considerable weight. Perfect for milking, hallway display or individual coffee table. Three legs ensure a very stable base on uneven surfaces.
Approximately 320mm tall with 230mm seat top.
Ebonizing produces a wonderfully rustic, deep black finish. Sealed with Tung Oil, Shellac and a final polish of Beeswax.
Turkish Drop Spindle
Turkish drop spindles have the advantage of creating a turtle shaped ball that is simple to remove by sliding off the arms when finished.
Made on request from a selection of timber. Pictured spindle has Rimu arms and Totara shaft (turned on traditional pole lathe). Finished with Tung Oil and Beeswax.
