Wrist Distaff – used to wrap roving on, so that the roving is kept out of the way when using a drop spindle. The leather strap and bead go on the wrist. A one inch measure at the top of the staff allows for wraps per inch to be calculated for yarn produced.

Figured 4mm Diz. What is a Diz? A Diz allows wool fibres to be drafted through the hole to create a nest of roving. This roving nest is much easier to spin on a drop spindle.

Turkish drop spindles have the advantage of creating a turtle shaped ball that is simple to remove by sliding off the arms when finished.
